The first true supermarket in the United States was opened by Michael J. Cullenon in1930, located inside a 6,000-square-foot former garage in the Queens borough of New York City, NY. The store, King Kullen, operated under the slogan "Pile it high. Sell it low."

Nationalism, often united as one by ethnicity, language and history, instills a sense of loyalty toward one’s country or place. In turn, Jingoism describes a political perspective advocating the military force in foreign relations rather than a peaceful or diplomatic solution.

Croatia:  WW2 to Independence

Croatia was a puppet state of Nazi Germany and fascist Italy during World War II.  After the war, Communist Party leader Josip Broz Tito ruled Croatia as as part of the Federation of Yugoslavia, along with Bosnia Herzegovina, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Slovenia, Croatia after 1945.  In 1992, Croatia was recognized as a separate country and became a member of the EU in 2013.
