WATERGATE
The term Watergate engenders an array of
clandestine and often illegal activities undertaken by members of the Nixon
administration. The 1970s attempted
cover-up of the break-in at the Democratic
National Committee headquarters in the Watergate office complex was a political
drama unfolding on American television.

Anti-Semitism is prejudice against,
hatred of, or discrimination against Jews. High profile Henry Ford’s
newspaper, the Dearborn Independent,
blatantly fueled anti-Semitism, not only in the US, but globally.

June 10, 2015 ART DECO / ART MODERNE
ART Deco and ART Moderne emerged as the global culture was transformed by rapid
industrialization and technology. Unlike
the organic forms of its predecessor, Art Nouveau, the new styles (between
World War 1 and 2) incorporated
more linear, cubist, mechanical and streamline forms.

German & Japanese Mistrust and Acculturation
American euro-nativists, as viewed within the hierarchy of our
competitive socio-economic system, targeted anyone “different” – often
newcomers, immigrants and those defined as “aliens”. Anti-German and Japanese sentiments were
especially vocal and vociferous during World War 1 and 2.

Ethnocentrism & the Intellectual
Left. Right. East. West: Ethnocentric Intellectuals apply political,
economic and cultural dominance and the assertion of superiority as a way of
thinking, right or wrong, left or right, politically correct or not – judgments are based relative to values
and standards of their own ethnic group or culture.

BALI: an interview with artist Paul Nagano
"Balinese Hinduism has roots in Indian Hinduism and Buddhism, and
adopted the animistic traditions of the indigenous people. This influence
strengthened the belief that the gods
and goddesses are present in all things. Every element of nature,
therefore, possesses its own power, which reflects the power of the gods. A
rock, tree, dagger, or woven cloth is a potential home for spirits whose energy
can be directed for good or evil. Balinese
Hinduism is deeply interwoven with art and ritual".
Paul Nagano is an American watercolor artist born in Honolulu, Hawaii. His paintings reflect the life, culture and environment of Bali, especially in the upland valleys of Ubud. He has also observed the many changes in Bali since Western artists first discovered the unique quality and essence of the place.

1940: Fall of France and the Spirit of Dunkirk.
Ours is a world of nuclear giants and ethical infants. We know more about war than we know about peace, more about killing than we know about living. Omar N. Bradley, United States Army field commander in North Africa and Europe during World War II, and a General of the Army.
"After Adolf Hitler’s rise and take-over of power in Germany in 1933, the Nazi party promoted vastly ambitious demands based on Nazi ideology such as uniting all Germans (and further all Germanic peoples) in Europe in a single nation; the acquisition of "living space" primarily for agrarian settlers. In a model similar to the American Manifest Destiny in the Far West the Nazis pursued policies and actions to clear native inhabitants; eliminate Bolshevism; and create the hegemony (leadership or dominance)of superiority".
