Brutalism, an architectural movement of mid-20th century Modernism, used
‘raw concrete’ as the primarily material of choice. The Brutalist aesthetic is praised by some
but criticized by others as intimidating, unwelcoming, cold and isolated from
traces of the outside non-urban world.
