ARGENTINA 1970s
In March 1976 a military junta lead by Jorge Rafael Videla took over Argentina.  The junta dissolved Congress, suspended political and trade union activity, and mounted a concerted campaign against the opposition. During this period the military imprisoned, tortured and executed leftists, Peronists, trade unionists and members of other political parties.

A person technically is considered homeless if he, she, or they "lack a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence." The de-institutionalization of patients from state psychiatric hospitals, supply-side economics policies of Republican Ronald Reagan and ineffectiveness of programs/policies were factors which exacerbated the homeless population.
